New education center in Rosegg: Children shape their future!

The new education center in Rosegg was officially opened on October 24, 2025. This facility includes a modernized elementary school that offers all-day care, as well as a new, integrated three-group kindergarten. The education center is designed to look after around 130 children, including around 80 primary school children and 55 kindergarten children. Numerous representatives from the community, politics and the architectural office were present at the opening, including State Councilor Daniel Fellner and Mayor Franz Richau. Members of the state parliament such as Markus di Bernardo and Stefanie Ofner as well as director Marijan Smid also took part in the celebratory ceremony.

The project became established through extensive renovation and expansion work on the existing elementary school building, which was carried out by the architectural firm ARCH + MORE in collaboration with the landscape architecture firm lenaplan. The aim of the modernization is to create an innovative learning environment that also promotes children's active participation in everyday school life. Children were involved throughout the entire creation process and were allowed to contribute their opinions and ideas, which was a valuable experience for everyone involved. This is particularly evident in the approach of teaching seven primary school classes bilingually.

Funding and objectives

The total project costs amount to around 4.1 million euros, with 2.425 million euros coming from the Carinthian Educational Building Fund (K-BBF). In addition to these funds, funds from the regional fund were also used. The education center can therefore be viewed as a pilot project for new formats for conveying building culture and education. At the opening, the importance of making children, young people and adults aware of the importance of the built environment was particularly emphasized.

The new education center is an important step towards promoting various types of schools, such as all-day schools. These forms exist in different forms, such as school day care or open afternoon care.
