Anniversary celebration of VS St. Michael: A celebration for strong children!

On June 1, 2025, St. Michael Elementary School will celebrate an important anniversary celebration that honors the school's continuous development and special achievements. The educational institution, which has played an important role in the village since 1970, has established itself with 123 students in eight classes and a dedicated team of 12 teachers. The motto “Strong children – strong for life” underlines the school's focus on individual potential, social responsibility and democratic education.

The school has recently invested in modern facilities to create an optimal learning environment. The structural renovation, which began in 2024, involved an investment of around 962,000 euros, which contributes to functionality and safety, with 566,000 euros coming from the Carinthian Education Building Fund. Deputy Mayor Alexander Radl emphasizes that a modern, barrier-free environment is crucial for the development of every child.

Extensive construction work

The general renovation, which was completed in 2004, was supplemented by the current renovation. The modernization includes, among other things, the renovation of the gym, new windows, a thermally insulated facade and barrier-free access. Interactive boards and modern WiFi infrastructure were installed to provide students with a future-oriented education. Headmaster Christina Baumgartner emphasizes the importance of promoting professional skills and personal development areas in such an environment.

The 4b class was selected to take part in the children's program “Superklasse” produced by ORF. The recording will take place in the gym and the broadcast is planned for September on ORF 1. This demonstrates the school's commitment to creating exciting learning opportunities that go beyond regular lessons.

Anniversary celebrations

The anniversary celebration on June 6, 2025 offers an opportunity for the school community to properly celebrate this important milestone. The celebrations begin with a tour of the school building from 2 to 3 p.m. A joint procession to the festival hall with musical accompaniment will then be planned at 3:15 p.m. The festival program in the festival hall starts at 4 p.m. and includes numerous musical and dance contributions as well as speeches. Entertainment is also provided with bouncy castles and face painting, supplemented by catering from the parents' association, which thus makes a further contribution to the community.

St. Michael Elementary School shows how a modern educational institution can respond to the needs of students while at the same time forming a community that supports children in their development. The investments in infrastructure and the commitment to extracurricular projects are a sign of the future direction of education in the region.
