Düsseldorf celebrates reading festival: Mayor Keller inspires children in the town hall!

An exciting event in the heart of Düsseldorf! Mayor Dr. On Thursday, November 14, 2024, Stephan Keller held a reading lesson for around 25 children from the Bilker Observatory School in the town hall. This happened as part of the “Düsseldorf Reading Festival 2024”, which has the motto of promoting the love of literature and education. Keller, the patron of the reading festival, chose the popular book “A Week Full of Saturdays” by Paul Maar to teach the children the importance of reading.

The reading festival, which is taking place for the 16th time this year, offers over 60 readings, workshops and interactive events for around 10,000 children from November 11th to 19th. The event attracts not only students but also extracurricular reading spaces such as the town hall to spread the joy of reading. After the reading, the children received pins with the cartwheel motif as a souvenir - a small but nice souvenir of this special day.

A celebration of literature

The Düsseldorf Reading Festival was launched in 2008 to awaken children's enthusiasm for reading. The festival is supported by numerous organizations, including the Düsseldorf PRO TRAINING foundation and Fortuna Düsseldorf. The event is organized by dedicated volunteers who offer free readings and many other literary activities. Current information can be found on the website www.leseban.de.
