Carla on tour: Sustainability for all Carinthian communities!

From July 2025, Caritas Carinthia will be active in the communities with its innovative “Carla on Tour” project. This initiative brings the popular second-hand markets directly to the people, and the concept is enthusiastic: a converted transporter serves as a mobile sales room and is used for weekly markets, village festivals and even schools. According to Christina Staubmann, the head of the area for employment and businesses, this project contributes to the extension of the lifespan of products and promotes conscious use of resources, while it is also the focus of social justice. This commitment is also supported by the Federal Ministry of Climate Protection, and Caritas relies on the sensitization of children and adolescents for sustainable consumption and fairness.

social integration & employment

At the same time, projects such as the Magdas locally show that economic action and social responsibility can go hand in hand. Here meaningful jobs are created for people who have a hard time finding a job. The SPAR supermarket “Perspective Trade” gives long -term unemployed and older people's unit a chance of a temporary job and training courses in retail. This not only promotes the integration of people in difficult situations, but also access to necessary resources for families at risk of poverty. Caritas also offers free shops for the needy, supported by donations in kind from the community. Projects such as "Brücken.Werk" and "Grown.Care" offer young adults and people in difficult situations meaningful employment and the opportunity to work in areas such as upcycling and horticulture.

These measures not only effectively act against poverty, but at the same time strengthen awareness of sustainability. With the "Carla on Tour" project and other social initiative by Caritas, a positive change is sought that integrates and supports everyone involved, as has already been reported by Caritas Carinthia.
