Vision of the future or illusion? Innsbruck’s Raiqa” project under construction stress!
The outdated Franck coffee factory on the former Nestlé site in Linz is being demolished to make room for the large “Trinity Park” construction project. This new urban space is to be created with three towers 80 to 100 meters high. Linz planning director Hans-Martin Neumann explained that the economic environment is currently less favorable than during the boom, which could lead to delays in implementation. “In times when the economy is not doing so well, such projects can be delayed,” says Neumann. In addition, the construction of the Franck-Kontor on Lastenstrasse is being rescheduled. Despite the challenges, the development of the Franckviertel in Linz remains focused on the future, even if it may take a little longer for construction work to begin orf.at reported.
Meanwhile, another important project is being realized in western Austria: Raiffeisen-Landesbank Tirol has almost completed the shell construction work for its new headquarters in the Raiqa district between Südtiroler Platz and Bozner Platz. This innovative development not only includes modern office space, but also a four-star hotel, dining and retail space and an art space. The shell was implemented by Strabag and is an expression of a sustainable construction concept that integrates old parts of the building and is intended to achieve a CO₂ reduction effect of 30 percent. The historic tower of the former headquarters is being carefully revitalized and integrated into the new building. The CEO of Raiffeisen-Landesbank Tirol, Reinhard Mayr, was pleased with the progress and emphasized the importance of meeting spaces and the creation of a lively district raiffeisenzeitung.at reported.
An architectural highlight will be the so-called “hammer head,” a cantilevered element that floats from the sixth floor of the main building. This unique component will later accommodate some of the hotel rooms and contributes to the special identity of the district. The shell construction work for the entire area is expected to be completed by summer 2024, with around 155 million euros being invested. A focused approach to marketing the retail space should also shine with an offering that highlights regional products and sustainable concepts.
