Traffic chaos in Hanover: construction sites and diversions from January 2025!

Traffic between the “Waterloo”, “Markthalle/Landtag” and “Kröpcke” stops is currently not possible due to construction work. This particularly affects lines 3, 7, 9, 10, 12 and 13, which will be rerouted. ÜSTRA recommends that passengers obtain information via the ÜSTRA app or the website uestra.de as well as through customer service and to allow more time. This was done by hannover.de reported.

From Saturday, January 11, 2025, changes will apply to several lines. Line 9 is diverted between “Empelde” and “Hauptbahnhof/ZOB” and runs from “Schwarzer Bär” above ground via “Humboldtstrasse” to “Goetheplatz”. Further adjustments affect, among other things, lines 10 and 17. Line 12 will no longer be in night service, while regular traffic on line 10 between “Hauptbahnhof/ZOB” and “Ahlem” will be maintained.

Details about the diversions

From Sunday, January 12, 2025, lines 9 and 10 will operate in a combined service from 5 a.m. to 3 a.m. on January 13, 2025. In addition, lines 3, 7 and 13 run regularly to “Allerweg” and then over the closed routes to “Hauptbahnhof/ZOB”. Line 17 will be completely discontinued. During the construction work, a replacement bus service will be set up between “Humboldtstrasse” and “Kröpcke”.

In addition to these measures, infra is planning the maintenance and renewal of the ÜSTRA light rail track systems. This work is necessary to cope with the daily loads of around 40 tons caused by light rail operations. Information about further construction projects and track work for 2024 is on the website uestra.de processed. These measures also include the construction of new elevated platforms and the creation of a new terminus for line 2.
