Horn receives fast rail connection to Vienna – modernization in full swing!
The Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) are planning a revolutionary direct connection between the city of Horn and Vienna. This initiative aims to offer commuters significant time savings by reducing travel time to just 15 minutes - without any transfers! How oe24 reported, the environmental impact assessment (EIA) will be submitted to the state of Lower Austria in February. This project envisages the construction of around two kilometers of new tracks between Horn and Sigmundsherberg and is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2030.
Modernization for commuters
Another important aspect of these plans is the complete electrification of the new route, which not only protects the environment but should also offer more efficient transport options. With an increased maximum speed of up to 160 km/h, train traffic could be significantly accelerated. At the same time, Horn train station will also be rebuilt to offer travelers more comfort. The construction of a new edge platform as well as park-and-ride and bike-and-ride facilities are being planned here zvab.
This mammoth project is a significant step towards improving the transport infrastructure in the region and offers a promising perspective for all commuters who have to overcome daily travel challenges.
