A farewell to the future: Church sold three times wonderful Our Lady

An important transition in the 10th Vienna district has occurred: the church "three times wonderful Our Lady" and the adjacent rectory were sold to a private individual. The Archdiocese of Vienna announced today that the rectory will be used for residential and office purposes in the future, while the listed church should serve as a studio. The sale is the result of an over ten -year process in which the financing problem and alternative uses for the rectory were discussed intensively, since the number of believers in the parish has decreased drastically, as the parish of divine mercy, to which the church belongs. The services of the previous community are now taking place in the nearby church "Queen of Peace", which is considered a necessary step by the archdiocese.

Last Saturday, a festive service was said goodbye to the challenges of change with a festive service from the "three times wonderful Our Lady", in which Bischofsvikar Dariusz Schutzki referred to the challenges of change. "Now something new, possibly unknown," said the bishop's vicar and stated that the move to the "Queen of Peace" should be regarded as an important transition. The congregation took this step festively after the Blessed Sacrament, the crucifix and a lady icon were carried out of the church. The following Sunday the ceremonial move into the new church took place, which further strengthens the existing community there.

historical background of the church

The parish church "Three Wonderful Our Lady" has an eventful story that goes back to the First World War. The area was originally in the 10th district of Vienna under the direction of only two parishes that looked after around 160,000 Catholics. Due to the growing demand, the chapel was expanded in today's position in 1932, but this was quickly considered inadequate. However, the construction of a full church could not be realized due to the financial circumstances, which ultimately led to a stages of church building. In 1942 the church was raised to the parish church, but since the parish was closed in 2015 as a branch church of the new parish, divine mercy has no longer played a relevant role, since its use went back by the community.

as in the reports of kathpress.at and Austriasites.com Documented the church "Three Wonderful Our Lady" for the time being, as a decree of the archbishop has not yet been issued.
