The Green Bunker: Hamburg's new landmark with a breathtaking view!
The anti-aircraft bunker on Feldstrasse in Hamburg, once a grim witness to the Second World War, has been transformed into a unique landmark. Previously known as the gray block, the building now known as the “Green Bunker” rises 58 meters into the sky with its newly added five floors. The transformation was completed in summer 2024 and offers visitors not only breathtaking views of the city, but also access to a green rooftop park measuring over 1,400 square meters. Many plants bloom on the former concrete walls and create a green oasis in the urban space Travel Reporter reported.
The roof garden not only offers relaxation, but also spectacular views of sights such as the Michel and the Elbphilharmonie. Visitors can walk along a 560 meter long “bunker path” that circles the planted areas. An elevator also gives people with disabilities access, although they currently need to be accompanied to the roof garden. On the lower floors of the building are the ballroom, a stylish tower room for private parties and a hall for exhibitions, and the 134-room REVERB by Hard Rock Hotel also offers guests both city views and views of the roof garden imbunker.com highlights.
A new hotspot in Hamburg
The concept combines historical architecture with modern elements and thus attracts numerous tourists and locals. The restaurant “La Sala” and the bar “Karo & Paul” also invite you to linger, while the atmosphere in the roof garden invites you to relax. Access to the roof garden is free, but there may be waiting times, especially on weekends, as only 2,000 people are allowed into the bunker at a time. Opening hours are daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. in summer and are shortened in the winter months.
