Ukrainian couple fights for new life in Tuttlingen despite homesickness

Viktoriia and Dmytro Kravchenko, Ukrainian refugees, work at the Tuttlingen Clinic as specialists in health and nursing. The two met during their work as a paramedic in the Central Lucrainian city of Tscherkassy. In 2022, they decided to move to Germany to find better financial opportunities and build something at home. Shortly before Russia's attack, they took on Ukraine in domestic nursing.

After the war started, they remained with their eleven -year -old son in Germany. In March 2022, the Kravchenkos completed a nine -month adjustment course to recognize their nursing diplomas, which they completed with the best results. Nursing director Olga Gibert then exhibited permanent employment contracts.

Integration in Germany

dmytro worked on a station for internal medicine during the course, while Viktoriia worked in a surgical station. Both quickly integrated into the team and worked committed. In self -study, they improved their knowledge of German, making them quick progress. Viktoriia has established herself as a specialist for authorities and plans to apply for a permanent stay in Germany. Despite homesickness and the longing for their family, they no longer want to return to Tscherkassy. Dmytro stated that they are already celebrating the third Christmas without their parents.

In a broader context, Germany promotes the integration of Ukrainian specialists into the labor market. From summer, Ukrainians can work with appropriate deals in hospitals and care facilities in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Saxony, such as Recognition-in-deutschland.de reported. A pilot project includes a simplified procedure to connect the learning of the German language directly to the workplace. Minister Stefanie Drese emphasized that quick integration into the health system was necessary to address the needs of refugee people and that of the German health system.
