Tractor accident in Bad Zell: Pensioner and grandson injured after accident!
On April 11, 2025, a serious accident occurred at 3:40 p.m. in Bad Zell, Upper Austria, in which a 55-year-old pensioner from the Freistadt district had an accident with his tractor. The agricultural tractor was loaded with a single-axle trailer with bark mulch on it. Carelessness caused the vehicle to leave the road and overturn.
After the collision, the tractor came to rest on the driver's side, which had serious consequences for the driver. His left hand was trapped in the driver's cab. Fortunately, his 6-year-old grandchild, who was strapped in the driver's cab, was uninjured. A short but courageous effort by witnesses to lift the tractor made it possible to free the injured man.
Rescue operation and consequences of the accident
After the driver was freed from his predicament, he immediately received initial medical care and was then taken to the UKH Linz. Despite the severity of the accident, the 55-year-old suffered unspecified injuries. The Bad Zell, Erdleiten and Tragwein fire departments were on alert with around 65 emergency services and nine vehicles and provided important assistance.
The amount of damage to the tractor and trailer is significant, but an exact cost estimate is still pending. However, such accidents are not the exception, as recent studies show.
