Tragedy in Brigittenau: Body discovered after house fire!
In a dramatic incident in Vienna today, a lifeless person was discovered in the basement of an apartment building. This shocking discovery was made on Monday at 11:30 a.m. during extinguishing work on a fire on Vorgartenstrasse, when the Vienna fire department intervened to fight the flames that were believed to have broken out in the basement. The identity of the deceased, a 57-year-old man, has now been clarified by the police, but the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation. Third-party negligence could be ruled out, as was the case ORF Vienna reports.
The investigation continues under the direction of the Vienna State Criminal Police Office. Initial indications suggest that this tragic incident may be related to a homeless drama. There have already been similar incidents, with a homeless man dying in a burnt down garden shed on Lainzer Strasse in January. In addition, just a week ago, another deceased homeless man was found in an underground car park in the seventh district, whose death was also determined to have no external influence, reported Austria 24.
The Vienna fire department had to deal with the difficult situation when they came across the body, which added to the already stressful work. While the cause of the fire is still being intensively investigated, the question arises about safety in residential buildings in which the most vulnerable in our society live. The police are asking for information from the public in order to better understand the circumstances of the incident.
