Düsseldorf public prosecutor's office takes action against accident verdict!

Almost two and a half years after Wolfgang S.'s fatal motorcycle accident in Düsseldorf, the case remains unresolved in court. How RP Online reports, the Düsseldorf public prosecutor's office has filed a precautionary appeal against the verdict that was imposed last Thursday against the person who caused the accident. This is now under review and the court can only carry out a detailed legal review after receiving the written judgment.

The prosecution had charged the 41-year-old driver with negligent homicide and a violation of personal rights. The district court only imposed a ten-month suspended sentence, while the public prosecutor's office had demanded a much harsher sentence of two years and four months in prison WDR reported. The tragic accident occurred on July 14, 2022, when the defendant carried out an illegal U-turn maneuver on a main road in the Bilk district. A 60-year-old motorcyclist fell, slipped and died from his injuries.

Attention through scandalous details

The case attracted nationwide attention, not least because of the reporting on the driver's behavior after the accident. She reportedly took photos of the injured motorcyclist on her cell phone and sent them to her boss to explain why she was late for work. When questioned by first responders, she is said to have even explained that she had to go to work and that she had nothing to do with the accident because she did not directly collide with the motorcyclist.
