Shiffrin celebrates 101st victory, Liensberger fights for the crystal ball!
In an exciting finale to the women's ski world cup season Mikaela Shiffrin celebrated their 101st World Cup victory on March 27, 2025. With this triumph in the final slalom, she overtook the mark of 100 victories, which she had previously achieved on February 23, 2024 in Sestriere. In the last ranking of the very successful winter, she prevailed with a lead of 1.13 seconds over the German Lena Dürr.
The overall award for the small crystal ball went to the young Croatian Zrinka Ljutic, which was able to maintain its lead in the overall ranking despite a less strong performance in the final round, where it was only in twelfth place after the first round. Liensberger, who was in fourth place after the first round, needed second place to overtake Ljutic in the overall standings, but couldn't get past fifth place and was ultimately 32 points behind Ljutic.
End of the season for Tyrolean Liensberger
Katharina Liensberger, one of the hopefuls in the Austrian ski team, showed a strong race and fought until the end. Even though she improved by one place in the second round and finished second, her performance was not enough for the big crystal ball. There she finished 0.80 seconds behind leader Andreja Slokar, who took third place.
Shiffrin, who has already set numerous World Cup ski records, has not only established herself as one of the best ski athletes in history, but also marked a new high with her 101st victory, having surpassed Ingemar Stenmark (86) and Lindsey Vonn (82) with 87 victories in 2023. Over the course of her career, she has achieved 156 podium places, 63 of these brilliant successes in slalom.
