Rescue in an emergency: Fire brigade removes ring from swollen finger!
On the night of February 16, 2025, the Wildeshausen Hospital experienced an extremely unusual, but by no means rare incident: a man had a ring on his finger that urgently needed to be removed. The fire department was called as early as 11 p.m. because the patient's finger was severely swollen and there was a risk of blood congestion. Help was immediately requested with a telephone call and four firefighters set out, equipped with a Dremel and special tools to complete this delicate task, reported Fireworld.
The situation turned out to be extremely challenging because the ring was made of particularly thick material. In order not to injure the patient additionally, utmost precision had to be practiced. This required additional special training sessions, as the Wildeshausen fire department confirmed. The affected area was cooled using water-filled syringes to control the heat generated by the milling machine. After about 15 minutes of hard work, the ring was finally opened and ultimately completely removed. The patient breathed a sigh of relief - the problem was solved and the fire department was able to successfully complete their operation.
