Government conversion: 13 ministries, but what happens to the climate?
Laimgrubengasse 10, 1060 Wien, Österreich - The National Council today adopted an important amendment to the Federal Ministry Act with the support of the coalition parties ÖVP, SPÖ and NEOS. This change concerns the federal government's division of department and, in addition to the Federal Chancellor, provides for a total of 13 ministers: inside and seven State Secretary: inside. The number of ministries remains at 12, but there are far -reaching shifts in competence in the various departments. The amendment comes into force on April 1, 2025, while adjustments are to be implemented in connection with the Freedom of Information Act until September 1, such as parlament.gv.at reported.
The division of department also provides that the former Federal Ministry of Labor and Economy is divided: Employees hike to the new Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection, while economy, energy and tourism are bundled in another ministry. Further changes concern the responsibilities for the media, living and art, which are now summarized in a joint ministry. This restructuring is intended to increase the efficiency of the government and the new ministers: enable inside to perform their tasks quickly and effectively.
