Parrot protection center in danger: Looking for a new location by the end of 2025!

The parrot protection center on the Althangrund faces a serious challenge: it must leave its location by the end of 2025. The association Working Group on Parrot Protection (ARGE parrot protection), which currently houses around 220 tropical birds, is faced with an acute lack of space. But the upcoming demolition of the building to make room for the educational campus of Althangrund forces the ARGE to move, as the magazine reported my district.

The current uncertainty about a new suitable location ensures concern. ARGE club leader Nadine Ziegler explains that the alternative offered in Floridsdorf is not unacceptable to the requirements for the temperature and rental costs. In addition, the association would like to continue working closely with schools in order to present the birds as part of an educational program. "We hope that we will find a neighborhood soon, if possible near Vienna," said Ziegler. The ARGE not only campaigns for the protection of the parrots, but also brings together lovers under these birds, which are looked after by the support of numerous volunteers.
