East Tyrol helps: 4,000 euros in donations for those in need and the new SozioTHEK!

On March 28, 2025, the BNI Lienz Dolomites Chapter launched an important initiative to provide support to people in need in East Tyrol. As part of an event with memory trainer Markus Hofmann in Nußdorf-Debant, two donation checks worth 2,000 euros each were presented. This generous sum, which also comes from company donations, will benefit the work of the AufBauWerk Schloss Lengberg and the “Time is Your Life” project, which was launched by the initiator Philipp Steiner. The checks were handed over by Erwin Mair, director of the BNI chapter.

The support is particularly important for people who are in distress through no fault of their own. With this campaign, the BNI shows a strong commitment to the community and highlights the role of the entrepreneurial network, which consists of over 30 members in East Tyrol.

New contact point for those seeking help

In parallel to this fundraising campaign, the municipality of Lienz has launched a new internet platform, the “SozioTHEK Lienz/Osttirol”. This platform is intended to help users get in touch with social institutions more easily. On the website www.soziothek-osttirol.at 126 contact addresses for social institutions, social clubs, self-help groups and volunteers are already listed.

Evelyn Müller, the project manager, emphasizes the importance of the platform, as it not only makes it easier for those seeking help to access important information, but also enables people who would like to offer help themselves to register using an online form. Event dates and calls for help can also be published.

Support at local level

In order to further strengthen the contact point, a contact person for social concerns has been established in every East Tyrolean community. These people act as a link between those seeking help and the various social institutions. A free information folder with contact details is provided in the Lienz Citizens' Service and distributed throughout the district via the reading circle.

The project costs for the SozioTHEK amount to 7,500 euros and were financed by the municipality and the Leader program. These initiatives are an important step towards improving social support in East Tyrol and providing comprehensive help to people in need.

The BNI fundraising campaign and the introduction of the SozioTHEK are a sign of solidarity within the East Tyrolean community and illustrate how important support is for people in need.
