Olaf Scholz: A look behind the scenes of the Chancellor's life!
Chancellor Olaf Scholz recently was a guest in the podcast "And what do you do on the weekend?" (Episode 180). In this episode he gave insights into his private life and habits. Born in 1958 in Osnabrück and grew up in Hamburg, Scholz has already held various important political positions, including the first mayor of Hamburg, Federal Minister of Labor and Finance as well as SPD general secretary. He has been holding the office of Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany since 2021.
Scholz reported that he started moving to a jeans variant on Friday evening and does not carry jogging pants. During his free time he prefers to watch talk shows on TV. He described his sleeping habits as uncomplicated: on Saturday he wakes up shortly before eight and does not use a slumber button, and he has no problems falling asleep. Cooking is another personal topic. His recipe for Königsberger meatballs is particularly well known. He also raves about the architect Sep Ruf and his architectural photo.

In the past, Scholz took a two -year break from politics in which he worked as a lawyer and read many books. When asked about Friedrich Merz, he could not provide any information about his competence. With regard to his marriage to Britta Ernst, he said that it was clear early on that she was the right woman for him. Scholz likes to read biographies about Jürgen Habermas and loves science fiction and theater marathons. He avoids political talk shows because he sees them as a staging of politics. Sport plays an important role in his life, he jogges and rows and has a water rower in his chancellor's apartment. Towered at home does not wear slippers and is usually barefoot. For the coming weekend he recommended porridge with salt, biographies about Jürgen Habermas, the anthropolis marathon and plays by Kirill Serebrennikov.In addition, Olaf Scholz will be a guest on March 8, 2024 in the talk show "3nach9".
