O'Kelly Irish Dance Academy triumphs at the European Championships in Brasov!
At the Irish Dance European Championships 2024 in Brașov, Romania, the dancers of the O’Kelly Irish Dance Academy celebrated extraordinary successes, ranging from thrilling moments to sporting heights. The institution, which is considered the only registered Irish dance school in Styria, showed what it means to shine on the international stage. The athletes, led by the talented Desire Speer, who won the European Championship in the U12 category, left a lasting impression. Their spectacular victory crowns years of effort and proves the tireless commitment of the coaching team around Carmen Palensky and Philipp Gaber.
The championship offered a captivating backdrop as the competitions began on Friday morning. Nele Leinweber fought for second place in the U15 age group and thus took the title of vice-European champion, while Adrian Fabry shone as a newcomer in the U16 with a strong third place. Particularly noteworthy is Desire Speer, who was not only able to defend the title but also qualified for the upcoming World Championships for the third time in a row. Together with other talented dancers such as Emma Friesenbichler and Katalin Huemer, who also received the coveted qualifications for the World Championships in Glasgow, the team impressively demonstrated that hard work and passion lead to excellent results.
The O’Kelly Irish Dance Academy not only qualified for the World Championships, but their successes in Brașov also strengthen team spirit and self-confidence for the challenges ahead, such as the upcoming 2025 European Championships in Prague. We continue to train diligently at home in order to deliver at the highest level again at the next big event. The pride and enthusiasm of the team is evident - a real wave of success for the O'Kelly Irish Dance Academy, which provides reason to support the dancers in the upcoming competitions and monitor their progress.
