Neuwied honors deserving senior advisory board members with a festive reception

Neuwied recently honored its dedicated senior advisory board members who made a valuable contribution to the city during their term of office from 2019 to 2024. Mayor Jan Einig as well as Mayor Peter Jung and Alderman Ralf Seemann invited around 40 former members to the Amalie Raiffeisen Hall to honor their work. In an emotional speech, Jan Einig emphasized that the seniors' advisory board, although without formal decision-making authority, had made a significant contribution to creating important impulses. Among other things, the new citizens' bus was launched, which has been driving through Neuwied since November. “The commitment with which the advisory board members continually bring forward new ideas for coexistence between generations in our city is remarkable,” said Jung. A small gift in the form of blackberry nectar rounded off the festive reception. The event not only offered an opportunity to look back, but also to network among members. Some of them will continue their valuable work in the new senior advisory board, reported news-koblenz.de.

Energy efficient initiatives in Potsdam

In another significant development, the city of Potsdam has won the title of Germany's most energy efficient city in 2022. State Secretary Dr. Patrick Graichen congratulated Mayor Mike Schubert and the citizens of Potsdam on this award. Graichen emphasized the urgent need to increase energy efficiency through ambitious renovations in order to achieve climate goals. Schubert acknowledged the award as recognition for the city's committed actions in recent years. “Especially in view of the war in Ukraine and the impact on energy prices, it is urgent to drastically reduce consumption in buildings.” The basis for this assessment was more than half a million data sets from the real estate platform “ImmobilienScout24”, which were analyzed independently. Potsdam thus takes first place among 50 cities, after Offenbach am Main topped the rankings last year enbausa.de reported.
