NEOS rely on honesty: wave of posters for a better future in Vienna!

On April 3, 2025, the NEOS election campaign is in full swing. State managing director Philipp Kern emphasizes the immense importance of honesty in the election campaign. The party's current poster campaigns show children to draw attention to future generations. The posters also present a “to-do list” for Vienna, which lists the important concerns of NEOS and supports them with concrete suggestions.

A central concern of NEOS is to eliminate the imbalance in minimum income. They demand that the social system be designed so that work makes a noticeable difference. They see the minimum security as an emergency network for people who are unable to work. A reduction in financial benefits is being discussed, as is the demand for a nationwide uniform solution that would promote more benefits in kind, especially for children.

Education and social security in focus

In the education sector, NEOS is committed to modernization. A particular focus is on the psychosocial health of students. To support this, the “School Nurses” pilot project is to be expanded into Viennese schools. In addition, the idea of a democracy school to teach values is being brought into play, which would also offer students trips to Brussels to improve their knowledge of the EU.

The NEOS have also initiated a project called “Light Paths”, which aims to improve lighting in Vienna. Security is also a key point: the party is proposing a “Vienna bonus” for police officers and is calling for more security personnel on night public transport. The overarching goal is to create a traffic-calmed city center.

Pension reform called for

In parallel to the activities in Vienna, the NEOS also address the challenges of the Austrian pension system. Experts have been warning for years that the existing structure is not sustainable in the long term. Despite these warnings, previous governments have not undertaken substantial reforms in the pension sector. In this context, the NEOS are calling for a comprehensive pension reform that aims to preserve pensions and ensure financial stability for future generations.

The NEOS proposals for reforming the pension system include making the retirement age more flexible from 62 years old, strengthening private provision through a tax-advantaged pension and retirement account, and the possibility of paying up to 3,000 euros annually into this retirement account. In addition, citizens should be supported by annual information about the status of their pensions and a simple calculator for calculating future pensions.

The coming election will show whether the NEOS can find broad support with these comprehensive initiatives. Voters are curious to see how the NEOS will translate their promises into concrete actions.
