The US company Michter’s from Louisville has once again reached a significant milestone: for the third time in a row, the brand was named “World’s Most Admired Whiskey” by the renowned Drinks International expert academy. This award was announced in the annual Top 50 rankings, considered the definitive list of the best whiskeys in the world. Michter’s Executive Vice President Matt Magliocco expressed his gratitude for this recognition and acknowledged the high quality of work across the industry OTS.
The rankings are compiled by the votes of 100 independent drinks buyers, journalists, bartenders and whiskey experts. The criteria for voting include aspects such as quality and consistency, value for money as well as the branding and marketing of the brands. Drinks International editor Shay Waterworth highlighted Michter's ability to combine traditional practices with innovative approaches, which contributes to the brand's continued popularity Drinks International.
Strong market position
Michter’s has built an excellent reputation in the bar industry over the last 30 years and offers a diverse portfolio of whiskeys. These include bourbon, rye, sour mash and American whiskey, all of which are limited in quantity and aged to peak maturity. Dan McKee, Master Distiller at Michter’s, emphasized the appreciation for the brand among both domestic and foreign consumers. Joseph J. Magliocco, President of Michter’s, thanked the global support and emphasized the importance of the brand OTS.
In the current rankings, two other Suntory-owned brands also took top spots: The Yamazaki came in second place, while Hibiki newly debuted in the top three. Scottish whiskey Ardbeg was named Most Admired Scotch Whiskey and came in fourth place, while Redbreast was the highest-ranked Irish whiskey in 19th place Drinks International.
Growing whiskey market
Michter’s role in the global whiskey market is remarkable. According to an analysis, the market was valued at $72.7 billion in 2024 and is expected to grow at a CAGR of over 6.7% between 2025 and 2034.
