Kosmos Theater celebrates Frauenpower: Art as a voice of anger and hope!

The Kosmos Theater in Vienna has experienced a remarkable development that is due to the commitment of women in art. Founding director Barbara Klein, who fought against male dominance in management positions in the late 1990s, was the author of the idea. Finally, the theater could be opened under the name "Kosmos.frauenraum" in 2000, a room that is only dedicated to feminist art. Since then, the theater has continued to develop and changed its name to Kosmos Theater in 2002 to integrate a broader spectrum of art forms, including dance, music and comedy, such as ORF reports .

The anniversary season of the Kosmos Theater, which started last September, impressively shows the central concerns of the house. Among the many productions, "Aqua Tofana" by Ivana Sokola stands out, a staging that deals humorously with female anger and silver -to -dead make -up of women. Another highlight of the season is the co -production "God is three women" (GI3F), which focuses on women's responsibility in a world shaken by crises. Here a female trinity is presented on stage, which is discussed with an ingenious humor and reflection on the possible end of the world, including a grotesque representation of Donald Trump in the form of a threatening orange, such as theater cosmos describes .

diverse topics and great response

Another remarkable success of the Kosmos Theater is the increasing utilization, which was 89 percent in 2024, compared to about 70 percent in previous years. This positive development is also reflected in the successful participation in the "Radical Jung" festival in Munich, where the theater occurs with its production "nest tasting". The aim of the Kosmos Theater is to give the artistic work of women not only in protected space, but also to greater stages and to tackle important social issues as they are impressive in the current season.
