Katharina Stemberger: Reading with Viennese songs and memories in Meggenhofen!

On June 19, 2025, Katharina Stemberger will be the center of media attention as she premieres the fifth season of the popular crime seriesSOKO Linzrotates. Stemberger, who has been working as Commissioner Joe Haizinger since 2021, combines her acting work with commitment to art and society.

Filming is currently taking place in Linz, where the new episodes of the series are being developed. The specific broadcast date has not yet been set, but the introduction of Angelika Niedetzky as a new investigator in the series has already been announced. Katharina Stemberger is known for not only shining on television, but also in theater productions, where she embodies the roles of tragic heroines.

Reading in Meggenhofen

In addition to her filming, Stemberger will appear at the Meggenhofen Theater on Thursday, June 26th. At this event she will read texts by Anna Baar, a prominent voice in contemporary Austrian literature. Stemberger plans to present childhood memories of Baar, who is originally from Croatia and lives in Klagenfurt. The reading is accompanied musically by the Viennese song duo “Die Strottern” and reflects Stemberger's interest in literature that addresses marginalized groups.

Stemberger describes herself as a storyteller and is not only active in the performing arts, but also as a professor at the MUK and as a producer. She runs the HIN & WEG theater festival in Litschau together with Zeno Stanek and Ernst Molden. This initiative promotes contemporary theatrical entertainment and demonstrates their commitment to culture.

Social commitment

In addition to her artistic work, Stemberger is also heavily involved in the social sector. She was chairwoman of the Integration House in Vienna for years and founded the “Courage – Courage for Humanity” initiative with friends in 2020. This initiative advocates for legal and safe escape routes for refugees and works with various experts, aid organizations and religious communities.

For its efforts in the social sector, the initiative awards the “Paul Weisz Prize” once a year for special contributions to humanity. In addition, Stemberger published her first book in spring 2023 entitled "Courage. Why it's worth offending", which deals with the challenges of today.
