Inspiring strength: 56-year-old has mastered the job despite her handicap for 40 years!
In Bad Hersfeld, Susanne Hessheimer-Traud, a 56-year-old employee of the local employment agency, impressively shows that disability and employment are not a contradiction. Despite severe osteoarthritis, which required numerous operations, she has spent more than 40 years working for the agency, for 15 years as an entry-level clerk. As part of the agency's 28 people with disabilities, she has established herself not only as a contact person for customers, but also as a valuable advisor for colleagues. Susanne uses a height-adjustable desk, a special support that enables her to complete her tasks even despite health restrictions, such as HNA reported.
The Bad Hersfeld-Fulda Employment Agency actively promotes the inclusion of people with disabilities. Matthias Dengler, the agency's managing director, emphasizes that openness and special tools are often enough to break down barriers. Susanne Hessheimer-Traud not only brings her professional experience, but also shares her personal illness story, making her an empathetic voice for numerous customers. “Social contacts are very important,” she says, explaining how her work not only gives her a livelihood but also helps her deal with the pain.
