Help in an emergency: Agriculture in the Starnberg district needs you!

In the Starnberg district, the machine and operational support group is faced with an urgent call for cooperation. Given the increasing need for helping hands in agriculture, the association is looking for additional staff to support agricultural businesses and private households. Christine Steingruber, the operations manager, coordinates the operations and applications for help.

How Mercury reported that the reasons for contact with the machine ring are often related to personal emergencies, such as illnesses, deaths, accidents or births. There are currently around 10 non-permanent staff available who are willing to provide support.

Tasks and qualifications of the helpers

The farm assistants have three years of agricultural training and are responsible for various tasks, including stable work, milking, animal care, manure handling and mowing. In addition, household helpers who have also completed three years of home economics training offer services that go beyond just cleaning.

Magdalena Schlögel, 24 years old and has been working for Maschinenring since October 2023, is currently looking after three families in the communities of Weilheim, Tutzing and Baierbrunn. Her responsibilities include childcare, tidying, cleaning and cooking. Schlögel emphasizes the responsibility she has, particularly when it comes to childcare, and points out that many families are not aware that business help is available.

Additionally informed the Starnberg machine ring about the fact that the harvest season, stable work and household management require continuous work, regardless of unforeseen events such as illness or accidents. Support is provided by full-time village helpers as well as by farmers and helpers as part of neighborhood assistance. Billing is carried out via the health insurance company or professional association according to fixed hourly rates.

The structural change in agriculture and the changed general conditions have promoted the use of business and household help outside of agricultural social security. The demand for private household help in particular has increased in recent years.
