Craftsman bonus: Millions for Viennese businesses – this is how you can benefit now!

In a remarkable step to support the construction industry and the craft sector, Austria has launched the craftsman bonus. Loud Vienna.ORF.at To date, around 9,000 applications have been received, with more than six million euros having already been paid out to applicants. However, interested households must act quickly: The deadline for submitting invoices from the previous year ends on February 28, 2025. From March 1, applications can then be submitted for craft services for the current year, with the funding amounting to 20 percent of the work costs - a maximum of 1,500 euros per person and residential unit.

Like that Federal Ministry of Labor and Economics reported that the initiative has been well received by the population. Over 84,000 applications had been approved by Christmas, an increase of around 1,500 applications per day. The average funding amount is currently around 780 euros. Services in the areas of carpentry, painting and sanitary technology are particularly in demand, as they not only contribute to improving the quality of living but also strengthen local craft businesses. A total of 300 million euros is available for this two-year funding pot to create incentives for the commissioning of craft services.

These measures are not only a benefit for the craftsmen themselves, but also direct support for customers. The Minister of Labor and Economic Affairs, Martin Kocher, emphasizes that this initiative contributes to securing high-quality jobs. The tradesman bonus is processed by the federal accounting agency, and to make the application easier, only basic information is required. The system is responsive: applications are processed within around three weeks. This ensures that both craft businesses and applicants can benefit from this program.
