Successful blow against illegal arms trade in Austria!
Laimgrubengasse 10, 1060 Wien, Österreich - On February 27, 2025, a comprehensive joint action day (JAD) took place in Austria, coordinated by the government of state security and intelligence service (DSN). This large -scale approach was directed against illegal arms trade and the right -wing extremist scene. House searches in which ten men were suspected were carried out in fourteen locations to be in possession and trade for forbidden weapons and Nazi devotionals, such as ots.at reported. In total, more than 90 firearms, over ten thousand shot ammunition and numerous Nazi devotionals could be ensured. The searches took place in several federal states, including Vienna, Burgenland, and Upper Austria.
The Interior Minister Gerhard Karner praised the investigation as a considerable step in the fight against extremism and organized crime. "This success shows how important a professional protection of the constitution is for our democracy," said State Secretary Jörg Leichtfried. According to noe.orf.at , the JAD was based on a previous house search, in which weapons and Nazi devotionals were already secured. The further investigations that led to uncovering the new suspects are a sign of the tireless work of the judicial and security authorities in this critical area.
continuous investigation
The Cobra operating command and the fast intervention groups (SIG) support the continuous investigation that started according to the extensive seizures. Mobile phones and data carriers were also confiscated during the searches, which indicates a possibly far -reaching networking. In addition, six preliminary weapons bans were imposed, but the target persons were displayed at large. The continuation of these efforts underlines the determined approach of the Austrian authorities to counteract the illegal arms trade and to ensure the safety of the population.
