Burglary in Bärwalde: Perpetrator gets suspended sentence despite previous convictions!

In November 2019, a break-in occurred in Bärwalde, a small town with only 50 residents. 37-year-old Mihail G. from Moldova and an accomplice broke into a residential building, breaking open the rear entrance door with a red crowbar. During this break-in, the perpetrators stole a wristwatch, several gold and silver chains, old debit cards and a safe containing 100 DM. To enable them to escape, they also stole the affected family's Kia vehicle and severely damaged it.

A crucial clue for the investigation was a hat that was found in the car and had Mihail G.'s DNA on it. The background to the crime is that Mihail G. wanted to earn an honest living in Germany, but was unable to find a job due to his lack of knowledge of German. Two weeks after the break-in, another incident occurred when Mihail G. broke into a clubhouse in Vetschau again and stole around 1,000 euros, including a package with yellow rope and sports equipment.

Court verdict and suspended sentence

Although Mihail G. had not yet committed a crime in Germany, several search notices had accumulated in the police register. His arrest took place in Bulgaria in the summer of 2024, followed by pre-trial detention in Germany. In front of the Luckenwalde district court, Mihail G. expressed his wish to return to his family. His lawyer demanded a suspended sentence because Mihail G. was very afraid of going to prison and planned to look for honest work in Moldova.

The court imposed a sentence of 18 months in prison, but this was suspended. This meant that Mihail G. was able to leave the court as a free man, but had to organize his return trip to Moldova without any money.

In another incident, the Teltow-Flämming police are looking for three suspected thieves who were active in Luckenwalde and Ludwigsfelde. These perpetrators are said to have stolen smartphones worth several thousand euros on Tuesday, September 10th at 2:45 p.m. and 4:04 p.m. While a member of the trio distracted an employee in a cell phone store in Luckenwalde, surveillance cameras filmed the other two men stealing. After their actions, the thieves fled and continued their thievery in a shop in Ludwigsfelde.

The Brandenburg police have published photos of the suspected perpetrators and are asking the public for information. These can be given by calling 033716000 or using an online tip form, stating the wanted number (112-24). Day24 reported.
