Volunteering in Carinthia: This is how volunteers strengthen solidarity!

An impressive event took place in the heart of Klagenfurt that highlighted the importance of volunteering. Organized by Carinthia relief organization and the Carinthian Senior Citizens' Association, volunteers and volunteers met in Adlergasse to celebrate their valuable work. The president of the aid organization, Elisabeth Scheucher-Pichler, emphasized how important it is to show initiative in order to combat loneliness and promote social cohesion. A central highlight of the event was the presentation of new projects, including the innovative “Supervised Travel”, the “School Bag Campaign” as well as the “Deeds Instead of Words” collection in collaboration with the Junge ÖVP and the “Stöberstübchen”. These diverse initiatives demonstrate the dedicated work of volunteers who make a difference across borders.

New head of social services introduced

Also of great importance was the introduction of the new head of social services and voluntary work, Johannes Dionisio, who succeeded Mäggie Jeschofnik, who was retiring. In collaboration with high-performing organizations such as SHG, HPE and the Lobby for Children, the diversity of volunteer work is underlined. According to Elisabeth Scheucher-Pichler, the aim is to recruit new volunteers who are willing to get involved in the projects of the aid organization and the senior citizens' association.

The Carinthian Relief Organization's social service center acts as a central contact point for civic engagement and is designed to connect people who want to do voluntary work with like-minded initiatives. As Karl H. (56) said, he was a lone fighter for a long time, but found connection to a broader community through the social service center. Here, those interested not only receive support in initiating their own projects, but also access to a social shop, the “Stöberstübchen”, where they can purchase clothing, non-perishable food and more. This place is further proof of the comprehensive range of help that is created through cooperation with organizations such as the SHG, ÖZIV and Fathers for Law.
