The voluntary commitment of several members was recognized at a festive Christmas party organized by the Miesbach local branch of the Technical Relief Organization (THW). Deputy District Administrator Jens Zangenfeind presented awards to outstanding helpers, including Ute Faltlhauser and Thomas Deinhardt, who received the coveted gold helper badge with a wreath. This honors their commitment to the THW's catering and youth work. Zangenfeind emphasized how valuable this work is for the local association, which set a new record this year with an impressive 30,000 hours of service, of which 10,000 hours were spent by the youth group Mercury reported.

As part of the celebration, those present emphasized the importance of voluntary commitment to civil protection. At the same time, 40 THW members from Saarland were welcomed in Berlin by Prime Minister Anke Rehlinger, who also took on the festive lighting of a nine-meter-high Christmas tree in front of the Federal Council. This tradition of putting up a tree and the associated thank you ceremony demonstrated the excellent cooperation between the various local associations.
