The 16th FHWien der WKW Alumni Awards ceremony took place on November 28, 2024 in the festive setting of the newly opened Hotel Imperial Riding School in Vienna. Around 150 guests, including prominent graduates and representatives from business and education, gathered for a glittering evening led by ORF presenter Madeleine Gromann. The event honored nine outstanding alumni whose careers impressively reflect the diversity of the study programs at the renowned university of applied sciences LEADERSNET reported.
Awarded for the first time: Business Icon of the Year
A highlight of the evening event was the premiere of the special “Business Icon of the Year” award, which was presented to Christiane Wenckheim, Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board of Ottakringer Drinks AG. Michael Heritsch, Managing Director of FHWien der WKW, explained that role models are necessary and that Wenckheim is creating a modern company for future generations through their future-oriented leadership. The honor shows how important it is to honor successful personalities who act as role models for young talents. In the “Professional Achievements” category, specialists and managers with national and international successes were honored, including Bernhard Capek-Krautgartner from Boehringer Ingelheim and real estate expert Julia Gattringer, as the FHWien reported to WKW.
In addition, the “Shaping the Future” category honored alumni who offer innovative solutions to pressing social issues. These included Kerstin Dohnal, for her work in the area of child protection in tourism, and Alexandra Ebert, an expert in data and AI protection. Graduates who are particularly committed to teaching and research also received awards in the “Exceptional Commitment to FHWien der WKW” category. This honor shows how the alumni contribute to the further development of the university with their commitment.
