Focus on women health: billions of billions revealed by menopause!
Berlin, Deutschland - A groundbreaking event for women's health took place on November 19: The first women's health summit from Bild! Around 140 experts came together to shed light on the most pressing problems and complaints from the female population. The focus was on an alarming number that Professor Andrea Rumler from the University of Economics and Law presented in Berlin: Untreated menopause complaints cost the German economy an incredible 9.4 billion euros every year! This sum results from around 40 million sick days that women take annually due to these symptoms.
In her opening speech,Federal Minister of Family Affairs Lisa Paus spoke about the challenges with which women are confronted in working life. She criticized the disadvantage that women experienced by children and later through menopause. "We need a lot more research in the field of women's health," she said. Other important topics such as endometriosis, the importance of preventive examinations and genetically related breast cancer were also discussed by renowned experts, including Prof. Sylvia Mechsner and Prof. Marion Kiechle.
Women's health in the spotlight
Kati Degenhardt, head of department at BILD, emphasized the social relevance of women's health: "Women's health is concerned. In order to continue to put the topic into public awareness, BILD will introduce a new format called Bild Tabu-Bru (n) ch on November 20, in which well-known personalities openly discuss women's health.
Carolin Hulshoff Pol, CEO of the BILD group, said: "Image makes health issues accessible and gives them attention." With the women's health summit, BILD sets another milestone to make the discussion about women's health and the challenges with which women are faced with visible.
