Family chaos in the glass house: when materialism eats the soul!
Family chaos in the glass house: when materialism eats the soul!
Graz, Österreich - The Graz Schauspielhaus has brought an impressive critical drama on stage with "Rutherford & Sohn" by Githa Sowerby. History is about the Rutherford industrial family, whose members suffer from the emotional cold of the patriarchal family overhead. The widowed father is so focused on his company that he completely ignores the personal needs of his family. This is how his son Richard escapes into the priesthood, while John Jr. dreams of a life as an inventor. Daughter Janet secretly leads a relationship with an employee of the father, while Ann is caught in an elite world. This disruption urgently shows how a self-centered attitude to life can cause entire family tremons, as well as mentioned.
"Rutherford & Sohn", originally listed among the 100 most important plays of the 20th century in 1998, not only offers a look into the past, but also reflects current social challenges. At a time when materialism and self -concentricity still dominate today, the piece is all the more contemporary and forces the audience to think about the integration of family and business. The other performances are already planned for the 14th, 15th, 22nd, January 31st and February 8th and 27th
