Chowdeck strives for Nigerian's delivery market and wants to be Africa's Super app
When Femi Aluko was forced to isolate at home during the Covid 19 pandemic, he always asked himself the same question: How should he get food?
challenges of food procurement in Lagos
in Nigeria's largest city, Lagos, Aluko had difficulty finding fast delivery options. Many restaurants were closed, while others had incredibly long waiting times. For this reason, he decided to become active and find a solution.
The inspiration in Dubai
During a trip to Dubai in 2021, Aluko found the answer to his problem. He was impressed by the efficiency of the food supply apps there. "It was just so fast," he recalled. “I thought: 'If that works in Dubai, it can also work in Nigeria.' I knew I wanted to come back and try it out.”
The foundation of Choweck
In October 2021, Aluko and his co -founders found the choweck app. This on-demand delivery app enables customers to order meals of around 2,000 participating restaurants in eight Nigerian cities. According to Aluko, the app has developed strongly since it introduced and now serves 600,000 customers. In addition, Choweck works with over 6,000 delivery drivers.
growth and success of Choweck
The success of Choweck shows how digital solutions in the modern way of life are becoming increasingly important, especially in times of crises such as pandemic. Aluko and his team managed to create a platform that not only meets the needs of customers, but also offers jobs for many people in the region.
