They met after Instagram contact with a foreigner
Amanda Boyce happened to come across Sunil Rajputs Instagram profile. In her home in Brisbane, Australia, Amanda scrolled through social media. Suddenly she saw Sunil's picture for the first time. An account followed by Amanda had shared one of Sunil's posts in her Instagram story. Amanda clicked on it, and the photo - Sunil smiled into the camera - increased on her screen. "Wow, it looks good," she thought and started scrolling through his side. Posts on fitness, travel and his life in India. "He seems to be interesting," thought Amanda and followed him without thinking.
at the beginning of a special connection
It was in early 2018. Amanda, then 27 years old, felt a little disillusioned and dissatisfied with her everyday life in Australia. "I had gone through traumatic situations in the previous years and felt a bit lost in my life in Brisbane," says Amanda today. She had a full -time job, but no home, no children and no pets. "I actually had no goal. So I spent a lot of time on Instagram and then found Sunil's side without really knowing what I was expecting."
The emergence of a friendship
Amanda began to like Sunils posts whenever they appeared in their feed and almost always looked at his stories. She enjoyed seeing excerpts from Sunil's life - moments when he went out with friends, cooked or did sports. "And then one day he just wrote to me by chance," recalls Amanda. The two started to chat via Instagram, introduced themselves and talked about their lives.
an unexpected phone call
Sunil suggested that they should make calls. It was early evening in India and later in the night in Brisbane. Amanda was a bit skeptical at first, but thought that she could simply put on if it could be uncomfortable. As soon as Sunil's voice could be heard at the other end of the line, Amanda felt "very comfortable and safe". The two unknown spoke together for hours, shared details about their lives, past relationships, hopes and dreams. "It was really nice to entrust yourself to someone so openly," says Amanda.
The idea of a trip to India
The next day Amanda came over the panic: "I thought why I invest time in someone who lives 10,000 kilometers away? I felt like I had made a mistake by being so open to someone I didn't really know." But she felt almost guilty and finally "gave" him. Sunil tried to write her and see how she was doing, but Amanda did not answer.a trip full of surprises
Amanda tried to get Sunil out of her head, but the conversations had sparked an idea in her. She had always dreamed of visiting India and a good friend of her had recently moved there. Amanda decided to book a trip to India to visit her friend. Coincidentally, her friend lived in the same city as Sunil - Chandigarh in northern India. But Amanda did not intend to meet Sunil by chance because Chandigarh was a big city with around 1.1 million inhabitants.
an unexpected reunion
"I just felt that I had to come to India," says Amanda. "I wanted to think a little, eat a little ', eat, pray, love'." Amanda arrived in Chandigarh in spring 2018 and began to post Instagram updates-photos of meals, views and snapshots with her boyfriend. Then she received a message from Sunil: "Wait, you are in my city?" Amanda did not answer immediately because she thought: "Oh, I won't have time to meet him." But towards the end of her visit, Sunil reported again, and Amanda decided that it could be worth contacting him.
a first meeting
"I wanted to meet in a public place because I faced someone from the Internet in a foreign country where I couldn't speak the language," explains Amanda. The first encounter was exciting and after the personal meeting Amanda was enthusiastic about the mood she shared with Sunil. He prepared an Indian lunch for her, cooked chicken curry and showed her his city. "I was very impressed by the effort he put into the relationship at our first meeting," she says. "Even more than I was there!"
The decision for love
After their first meeting in India, Amanda and Sunil remained in contact. They led daily phone calls and wrote to messages. "We talked to each other every day," recalls Amanda. "Then Sunil said: 'I want to get to know you better. Do you want to come back to India?’ "Amanda booked a flight for June, about two months after her first visit. But when she got on the plane, she came across nervousness.
a new phase of life
Amanda landed at Indira Gandhi Airport in Delhi and saw Sunil, who held roses and her favorite chocolate in the heat. "It really felt special," says Sunil about this moment. "The fact that someone came from another country to see me." During her visit, Sunil showed her the beauty of India and spent a lot of time with her. "I felt that I wanted to belong here," says Amanda, "and after a few special evenings we talked about marriage and our life together."
The common way to the future
After a few weeks in India, Amanda and Sunil decided to marry. The plan was that Amanda would permanently move to Sunil to India after a year. But during this time they maintained the long -distance relationship. "The long -distance relationship was really hard," says Amanda. "I thought she would wake up one day and maybe think that she would no longer want." But when it was finally time to pack her things in Brisbane and move to India, everything felt right.
a common life in India
When Amanda moved to India, the Sunil apartment became her home. The first year was happy and exciting, but there were also challenges, such as the language barrier and loneliness. To get closer, they adopted a dog that brought them a lot of joy. "Love for each other grew with every second," says Amanda. A few months later they married in a wonderful ceremony where their two families met for the first time.
a future full of possibilities
Today Amanda and Sunil live in Chandigarh and have three dogs. Amanda has her own company where she taught English, and Sunil is proud of how Amanda developed. "We are both successful in our job and enjoy our life together. We are also looking forward to starting a family and traveling the world one day," says Amanda. Her story shows that life always offers opportunities, you just have to accept it and explore the possibilities.
