New timetable of the ÖBB: Carinthia gets better connections!
With the timetable change on December 15, 2024, ÖBB presented groundbreaking innovations in Carinthia that fundamentally upgrade public transport. From this date, travelers in the region are available, among other things, new connections and modern trains to further increase comfort and reliability. The target group are commuters: inside, students: inside and leisure travelers who will benefit from improved mobility. The new timetable also relies on sustainability and regional networking, which strengthens the mobility of the future, so gailtal-journal.at .
The introduction of an additional train on school days is particularly striking in order to meet the increased requirements of commuters: inside and pupils: on the inside. The new train leaves the Major station at 6:45 a.m. and reaches Villach at 7:13 a.m. - a welcome relief in the morning traffic chaos. In response to the Tauern lock, it is thus ensured that the capacities in the heavily frequented connections are sufficient. Reinhard Wallner, regional manager of ÖBB-People's Transport Carinthia, emphasizes the importance of this adaptation: "With this additional connection, we specifically focus on the wishes of our commuters: inside and students: inside." This is done as part of a variety of other initiatives that come into force from September 2025 to further improve the offers for commuters: further improve and increase availability.
extended offers and improvements
The Nightline trains will also run in December 2024 according to vs-waidmannsdorf.at on all holidays and on selected holidays. This requires a more comfortable return option for night owls. The popular bike sprinter will also drive regularly from Easter 2025 to facilitate access to the most beautiful destinations in Carinthia. From September 8, 2025, not only the daily half -hourly cycle between Villach and Klagenfurt will be introduced, but also a number of further improvements that strengthen local public transport.
