New start -up hub: central point of contact for refugee women!

Pappenheimgasse 10-16, 1200 Wien, Österreich - The excited opening of the new “Startwien Hub” has unfortunately to be canceled. As the official communication of the Vienna Press and Information Service explains, the event was originally to take place on December 12, 2024. Due to ongoing negotiations, a new date is in prospect in the coming year, and those responsible promise to inform about details in good time.

The “Startwien Hub” is intended to offer a central educational and advice center with a special focus on the support of women. This initiative is of great importance, since Vienna is particularly affected by the family reunification of refugees. According to a report by W24, the average monthly number of new people are around 900, including numerous children. Education City Councilor Christoph Return emphasizes that around 70 to 80 percent of these immigrants come to the federal capital, often from Syria. The support for women who often move to Austria with small children and are faced with diverse challenges is particularly urgent.

versatile offers for successful integration

In order to meet these needs, the starting show was designed as a modular contact point. Not only language and literacy courses are offered here, but also consulting services on everyday questions of life in Vienna. Another important aspect is the social work accompaniment, which should help the families to find their way around their new surroundings. The spatial conditions of the start of the Startwien Hub in Pappenheimgasse make it possible to bundle various offers in one place, which facilitates interaction and integration.

The need for this type of support is high because many newcomers have had a long separation time. The city has already reacted to the pressure in the school area by creating additional classrooms in order to meet the needs of families. Those responsible are aware that this is an important step to cope with the integration challenges in Vienna and rely on innovative solutions in order to meet this growing need.

You can find out more details on the cancellation of the opening in the official notification of the Vienna Press and Information Service ( wien.gv.at ). Further information about the plans of the "Startwien Hub" can be found in the report of W24 ( W24 ).
