Opening of the Garstner Advent market: tradition meets festive joy!
On November 30, 2024, the 48th Garstner Advent market was opened with a colorful ceremony and gathered hundreds of visitors and guests of honor in Garsten. It is one of the oldest and most beautiful Advent markets in Austria and was ceremoniously inaugurated by State Parliament President Max Hiegelsberger and Mayor Anton Silber. The traditional event takes place around the Platzl in the town center and offers more than 60 stands that present all kinds of pre-Christmas delicacies and handicraft products. From bakers to chocolatiers – lovers of regional specialties will get their money's worth here meinkreis.at reported.
Crafts and exhibitions
In the community, the supporting program is complemented by a wide range of exhibitions. Over 30 artisans present their skills in the community's premises, including glass painters, potters and goldsmiths, who often work live and thus provide additional attraction. In addition, the Goldhood and Hammer Lords groups have a special exhibition in the Lederhilgerhaus: “Christmas trees then and now” and a miniature Advent market. The collegiate church and the collegiate museum, where guided tours are offered, fit seamlessly into the pre-Christmas atmosphere garstner-advent.at emphasized.
Another highlight is the impressive Lego special exhibition in the middle school, which presents a detailed landscape on 30 square meters with over three million Lego pieces - a true dream for children. The market is not only a logistical masterpiece, but also offers an attractive ambience for everyone who is looking for something special. Sounds of musical performances and organ concerts fill the air and add to the festive atmosphere. The Garstner Advent market will remain open until December 8th, when the exhibitors will be there for visitors from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
