Experience digitization up close: Shaping students design their 3D twins!
Laimgrubengasse 10, 1060 Wien, Österreich - Digitization conquers schools! In an impressive joint project between the House of Digitization, the Education Directorate of Lower Austria and the Science Department of the Lower Austrian state government, the so -called "digitization bus", pupils can experience exciting insights into the digital world. Around 4,000 children have benefited from this innovative offer since 2023, and by the end of June 2025 a further 30 trips are planned for a total of 1,300 pupils, as from ots.at reported.
This fascinating initiative enables students to travel directly from their schools to the Digitization House in Tulln, where you explore the miracles of digital technology in a 1.5-hour program. Here you will learn, among other things, what role data play in the digital world and can experiment with impressive devices such as 3D printers and VR glasses. The goal? To bring the children closer to the digital future and to reduce fear of contact with technologies, says Councilor of Education Christiane Teschl-Hofmeister.
3D digitization experience up close
Also at the Otto Hahn Realschule in Bensberg, students experienced the world of digitization up close. As part of a workshop of the ZDI network MINT Rhein-Berg, they learned how to digitize themselves in 3D. Under the motto "2D photos are lame-we take pictures in 3D!" have created detailed photos of themselves with their cell phones, which were then processed into a 3D model. These digital images were finally brought to life in a 3D printer, which is a fascinating experience for the students, such as rbk-direkt.de reported.
The workshop managers emphasize the importance that young people deal with digital technologies. This not only opens up fascinating insights into the 3D world, but also perspectives in future-oriented professional fields. Such innovative educational projects promote interest in mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology, and prepare the students optimally for the digitized future.
