Inclusive sports day in Verl: Active for all generations!

On October 27, 2024, an important event will take place in Verl that combines Sport and inclusion. The second day of sports and inclusion invites all residents to actively participate. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., visitors in the sports hall III of the Verler School Center can try out various sports and talk to each other. This event is intended for everyone, regardless of age or physical restrictions.

The event will offer a wide range of activities. This includes popular sports such as boccia, darts, judo and wheelchair basketball. A special football variant - wheelaccer - will also be part of the program. The inclusive sports group "Colorful Band" prepares a joint participation campaign for the afternoon, which is open to both children and young people with and without handicap.

A novelty this year is a wheel of fortune in which the participants have the chance to win great prizes. In addition, the gymnastics club Verl provides the physical well -being of the visitors in the foyer of the sports hall I. The day is supported by other local clubs such as FC Süneheide and the wheelchair department of the DSC Arminia Bielefeld, which are also committed to promoting inclusive sport.

The urban sports promotion has set itself the goal of further expanding the inclusive sport in Verl and making it more visible. Matthias Haeder, a representative of the city's sports funding, expressed his joy about the event: "The offers in the field of inclusive sport in Verl are growing. This makes the topic of inclusion more and more visible." This is also due to a visit to a special Olympics delegation from Honduras in the summer of 2023. Such events not only promote sport, but also contribute to the formation of communities and networks.
