Kasper fights, but Detroit loses again in overtime!
The Detroit Red Wings suffered another defeat against the St. Louis Blues on April 2, 2025. This overtime defeat leaves them with a poor record of just four wins from their last 15 games.
The game against the Blues was hard fought. The first goal didn't come until the third period when J.T. Compher gave the Red Wings the lead in the 46th minute. But the joy was short-lived: Jordan Kyrou equalized for the Blues in the 49th minute. In overtime, Jamie Fowler came through with a backhand goal and secured the victory for the Blues.
Marco Kasper in focus
Marco Kasper, the Red Wings' Austrian rookie, played almost 21 minutes and had one shot on goal and two puck losses. Overall, he scored an impressive 30 points this season, which places him among the three most successful Austrian players in their rookie years.
Despite Kasper's impressive individual performance, the team is fighting for the playoff places. Detroit is currently tied with the New York Islanders, but three points behind the New York Rangers, who claim the second wild card spot in the Eastern Conference. In addition, Montreal and Columbus are only two points behind the Rangers.
Previous successes and current situation

The next challenge for the Red Wings is just around the corner when they take on the St. Louis Blues again. With current performances, major adjustments are necessary to maintain playoff hopes.
