25 years L’Osteria: From the little Italian to the European restaurant chain!
The success story of the popular pizzeria chain L’Osteria started 25 years ago in Nuremberg, where the first Restaurant was opened in 1999. Founder Klaus Rader and Friedemann Findeis took over an established restaurant on Pirckheimerstrasse and successfully rely on huge pizzas and Italian pasta. In the meantime, the chain has grown into a European giants, with 178 branches in nine countries and more than 6000 employees worldwide, such as merkur.de reported.
chaotic beginnings and daring ascent
The start was anything but easy. Rader and finding ice initially had no experience in pizza baking and had to improvise when the actual chef left the restaurant. Instead, they took over the preparation with only one pizza maker and a pasta. Despite these challenges, L’Osteria developed quickly and gained popularity, especially thanks to the unique method of offering wine from 1.5-liter bottles for self-service. The company is now planning to expand to 500 locations by 2030. In 2023 the investment company McWin took over two thirds of the shares, but kept the founders in strategic say, according to the information from Wikipedia .
With a solid basis and strategic investments, L’Osteria is building a mixture of Italian flair and the professional concept of system catering. The chain not only specializes in pizzas and pasta, but also offers coffee as well as wine and olive oil products to complete the authentic Italian experience.
