Hansel and Gretel: A fairy tale full of dangers in the Salzburg Theater

In the Salzburg State Theater, the fairy tale opera "Hänsel and Gretel" celebrates its highly expected premiere on December 7, 2024. Director Thomas Mika takes the audience into a mysterious world full of adventures and dangers, while the siblings meet the dreaded crispy witch in search of their parents in the forest. The next performances will take place on December 15th at 3 p.m. and on December 21, 26 and 29 at 7 p.m. Since the story is designed according to Engelbert Humperdinck's original work from 1893, it will captivate large and small spectators as well as meinbezirk.at

The action begins when the mother sends the children, Hansel and Gretel, to collect berry into the forest after bringing plenty of provisions from the father for a happy festival. But the joy of the family is quickly overshadowed when the children do not return. The parents start looking while the siblings get lost in the darkness of the forest and meet strange creatures. So history not only becomes a classic fairy tale, but also on an exciting musical journey. Music director Leslie Suganandarajah leads the Mozarteum Orchestra, which delivers the impressive sounds of the adventure during the performance and ensures that the melodies such as "A little man is in the forest" or the songs of the crispy witch touch how Salzburger-landestheater.at emphasized.
