Thousands demand the resignation of Serbia's leadership after fatal misfortune!
In an impressive uprising, tens of thousands of Serbs have gathered in the capital Belgrade to protest against President Aleksandar Vucic and his governing Serbian progress party (SNS). The reason? A tragic accident that cost 15 people on November 1, when the roof of the newly renovated train station collapsed in Novi Sad!
The protests that are among the largest of the past few years were organized by university students and farmers on Sunday and took place on Slavija Platz in Belgrade. The march started with 15 minutes of silence - a moving gesture for the victims of this devastating incident.

The day on the day 14 people aged six to 74 died, while a 15th victim died in the hospital weeks later. The anger of the citizens is directed against the government, which they blame for defective construction quality and corruption. 13 people have already been arrested, including a minister whose release shook trust in the investigation.
The opposition and the population agree: This incident is the result of nepotism and inadequate supervision. Vucic and his coalition deny these allegations, but the pressure on the government is growing. "Those responsible must be held accountable," emphasizes the President.
The protesters let their anger run free: they chanted "Vucic, thief!" And held up posters with inscriptions such as "We are all under the roof" and "You have blood on your hands". An IT expert from Novi Sad, Aleksa, 30, summed it up: "We are here to say 'stop' to everything that has happened since 2012!"
an uprising for freedom and justice
The demands are clear: resignation of Vucic and the Mayor of Novi Sad, as well as the criminal prosecution of those responsible. In addition, the demonstrators require that the legal steps against the protesters are stopped and the attackers are held accountable.
The Serbian cultural scene is also on the streets: actors like Bane Trifunovic described the demonstration as "Festival of Freedom". Smaller rallies also took place in the cities of Nis and Kragujevac.
To smooth the waves, the authorities have promised various subsidies for young people in recent weeks. But the protesters cannot be soothed and demand more than just half -hearted solutions.
While the demonstrations continue, Vucic did not let himself be put off and opened a new section of a motorway in Central Serbia on Sunday. "We will defeat them again," he explained and accused the opposition to use the students for their own power games.
The weekly protests are an expression of the general intermittent about Vucics rule. While he wants to lead Serbia to the European Union, he is accused of restricting democratic freedoms more than to promote
