Selenskyj warns: US propaganda could endanger the Ukraine war!
Paris, Frankreich - Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj has recently warned about the negative effects of an approximation between the United States and Russia. He appealed to the United States and its western allies to remain adamant to Russia and saw Kremlin-friendly statements, especially from US special envoy Steve Witkoff, to be harmful to the pressure on Moscow. According to Selenskyj, Witkoff repeats "Kremlin narrative", which could further complicate the conflict between Ukraine and Russia. The president was concerned that such an attitude could hinder the peace process.
Selenskyj thanks the support of the United States in the Ukraine War, but also expressed his skepticism compared to the influence of Russian propaganda in the United States. He emphasized the need for the American government to remain strong and encouraged it to consider sharper sanctions against Russia. "We believe that the Americans continue to remain our reliable partner," said Selenskyj and made it clear that the defense of Ukraine and the protection of the civilian population would not work effectively without the United States.
The geopolitical situation and peace negotiations
Selenskyj also commented on the role of the United States in the process of termination of the war. He emphasized that Ukraine was interested in a ceasefire, but Russia has no real interest in it. In order to secure peace, Selenskyj demanded that European countries have to be included in the peace negotiations. "Europe has to sit at the table," he made it clear in an interview. A summit will take place in Paris on Thursday, in which around 30 heads of state and government will take part in the further support of Ukraine and possible security guarantees in the event of a ceasefire.
Selenskyj also emphasized that many European governments share his view that Putin represents a dangerous enemy. Ukraine's resilience would have to show, and he called for similar steadfastness from his partners. "We have to remain determined," he said, expressing hope that the Americans will hold on to their position towards Russia.
U.S. Policy and European Involvement
Current US politics has changed under President Joe Biden. While there are many words about a possible peace, there is a lack of clear ideas for an agreement. Biden recognizes the need to move Ukraine into a deal, but retains respect for its role in the process. In the past, the United States had increased Russia under Donald Trump, which further complicated the situation. Some analysts fear that previous administrations, especially the Trump government, could neglect the interests of Ukraine.
In this complex geopolitical environment, many differences between the warring parties remain unresolved, in particular the question of area taxes and the NATO membership of Ukraine. While Russia wants to end the NATO perspective of Ukraine, Selenskyj calls for a clear perspective on access to NATO. The lack of a clear peace plan under Trump also remains an unsolved problem for the future.
