Coalition negotiations: Who will be our new minister? Exciting insights!
The long -awaited government program will be presented on Thursday after the coalition negotiations between the ÖVP, SPÖ and NEOS enter the final phase. According to the information from Sn.at reports, the ministries distribution between the parties have already been clarified, but the exact staffing within the parties remains unclear. The ÖVP and SPÖ have agreed on six departments and the NEOS on two. The expected high number of state secretaries that could rise to seven - a record that has not been achieved since the first government under Werner Faymann in 2008 has been particularly striking.
ministerial posts and personnel issues
Special discussions are currently taking place in the SPÖ, where a presidium meeting was intensively advised on the government program. For critical ministries such as finance, infrastructure and judiciary, the personal details are still struggled. The SPÖ apparently committed to Peter Hanke for the Ministry of Finance, while in the Ministry of Justice Andreas Babler could probably favor Muna Duzdar, which is controversial internally. At the NEOS, the bodies are still busy with personnel selection, with former Neos boss Matthias Strolz recently withdrawn his ambitions to the office of Minister of Education. Instead, Christoph Return from the Neos could be considered the favorite for this position. It remains to be seen which ministries and posts are finally occupied, since the decisions are to be made in the coming days.
