Günther demands a variety of coalitions after the Bundestag election!
On January 5, 2025, Schleswig-Holstein's Prime Minister Daniel Günther commented on the possible coalitions after the upcoming federal election on February 23. Günther, who is a member of the CDU, emphasized that the black-green coalition in Schleswig-Holstein successfully works and emphasized the positive cooperation between the CDU and the Greens in other federal states.
However,he warns that he only committed himself to this coalition variant. Günther made it clear that the CDU should be able to form a government with various democratic parties, including the Greens. In the context of these open coalition approaches, however, he ruled out a collaboration with the Alliance Sahra Wagenknecht (BSW). Furthermore, he criticized the ambiguities of the BSW in relation to their positions, especially with regard to foreign and defense policy.
openness for different coalitions
Günther spoke in favor of diversity in the coalition options. As the Vorerer Zeitung , he sees the need not only to design the election campaign as an examination of the Greens. Instead, he advocated a confident appearance of the Union, which emphasizes the strengths of the CDU.
Furthermore, Günther praised the clear delimitation of the CDU Chancellor candidate Friedrich Merz to the AfD and criticized Markus Söder's negative attitude towards black and green cooperation. Günther also drew attention to the openness of politicians of the Greens, such as Franziska Brantner and Katrin Göring-Eckardt, for working with the Union in the BUND.
