CNN heroes: Legal disclosures 2025

The CNN Heroes Awards (the "Awards Program") appreciate outstanding people who cause positive changes in their communities. In order to come into question for the CNN Heroes Awards, the nominees must be at least eighteen (18) years old and part of their activities must have taken place on December 8, 2024 or continue to be active. In addition, the nominees must not have already been selected as CNN Hero finalists or winners.

eligibility and conditions of participation

The Awards Program is open to all the authorized nominees worldwide, which are citizens of countries that are not on the list of blocked countries (void country). If a country of CNN is classified as blocked, residents of these countries cannot participate or win. CNN reserves the right to declare nominees as unsuitable for participation in the program at any time or to donate prize money to a charity that is selected by CNN.

nomination process

To submit a nomination, please visit the website www.cnnheroes.com and fill out the necessary application form. Nominations have to be submitted online and self -nominations are not allowed. The closing date for nominations is July 31, 2025, 11:59:59 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. All nominations must be submitted in English and can only be made for a single person.

assessment of the nominated

The selection of the CNN Heroes takes place from the authorized nominated by a selection committee of CNN. Five potential finalists and an alternative candidate are selected. The final assessment is made by an online vote in which the viewers can vote for the CNN Hero finalists, whose achievements, effects and history best correspond to a CNN Hero.

notification and award ceremony

The finalists are notified by CNN and can be asked to take part in the award ceremony. If invited to participate, you are responsible for the procurement of the necessary travel documents. The prices include a sum of ten thousand dollars ($ 10,000) for each finalist and the winner receives prize money of a hundred thousand dollars ($ 100,000).

general provisions

In the case of unforeseen circumstances that could impair the smooth running of the Awards Program, CNN reserves the right to make changes or cancel the program. CNN is not responsible for late or lost submissions and reserves the right to take measures to maintain the integrity of the program.

- Federated states of micronesia
- Pacific Trust Islands
- Palau
-Papua New Guinea
- Sri Lanka
- tibet
- All countries that are currently sanctioned by OFAC.
